I have made the same beef tenderloin recipe for over 20 years and it has become a tradition whether served whole at Christmases and family celebrations or as beef sandwiches and sliders at graduation parties and game day gatherings. And it’s always accompanied by a big bowl of this horseradish mustard sauce.
And homemade blue cheese dressing. Because I like options and believe that if one sandwich sauce is good, two are better.
⇢ Other easy condiment recipes like this you’ll ♥️: olive oil bread dip, pesto mayonnaise, and easy balsamic glaze. Or give my mascarpone ranch a try along …so good!

What you’ll eat with mustard horseradish sauce
So many good things:
- Swap out the pesto in this juicy chicken sandwich
- Drizzle over spicy chicken salad
- Serve as a dipping sauce for Buffalo chicken pizza
5 simple ingredients
Here’s what to gather from the pantry:
2 steps to horseradish mustard sauce
- To a medium bowl, add the sour cream, horseradish and mustard. Stir it all together.
- Season with salt and pepper and taste. Correct as necessary.
Can it be any easier?
Recipe notes
- If you don’t have prepared horseradish (which is closest to fresh), you can use creamy horseradish.
- For maximum flavor, mix the spread up to 4 hours ahead.
Storage
Storage. Refrigerate any leftover sauce in a resealable container for up to a week.
Freeze. I don’t recommend you freeze mustard horseradish sauce.
