Basil Recipes
Grandma Nina used to snip fresh basil in the garden and make me taste it. She'd say, "Lor-Lor, you have to try the "bas-li-naw-cauv" (that's what it sounded like when she pronounced basil in Italian).
I didn't like basil when I was little. I didn't relate to its grassy, bright flavor.
Thank goodness I learned I was wrong. Basil makes pasta recipes like easy lemon garlic pasta magical and each bite makes me think of Nina and her love of growing basil.
And I don't want to think what fresh tomato marinara sauce would taste like without fresh basil. Nor would Nina.
